Welcome. About your Therapist.

I am a freelance fully qualified, Sports massage therapist with over 35 years competitive sporting experience, qualifying through BSY and being a registered BSY Sports Massage practitioner.

I compete at international level, sponsored by Elliott Nash Ltd - www.Elliottnash.co.uk representing Great Britain in Triathlon and Duathlon achieving Bronze medal position at the World Duathlon.

In Triathlon winning National Champion titles over Sprint, Olympic, Half Iron and Ironman distance, winning Ironman UK in 2016 and qualifying for and competing at Ironman Hawaii World Championship in the same year.

As an athlete and four time Ironman finisher I have experienced many sporting injuries myself, know how to get over them and understand the agony of being out of action. I have learnt the importance of massage both for injury prevention and for rehab and recovery.

Through personal experience I have found that massage is the answer to so many sporting
and non-sporting injuries. As a working Mum having spent hours over a computer or with a child on my hip I also know the stresses and strains everyday life can cause resulting in tension and discomfort. I want to help athletes stay healthy, active and competing and everyone else stay healthy, active and mobile.

Peter Hawcroft - Ironman Triathlete

"After an iron distance tri I picked up a calf injury that was very reluctant to recover. I also had long term knee pain which I assumed was a cartilage problem. Sam gave me intensive treatment for weeks combined with a slow structured return to training. She soon sorted the knee which was actually an IT band problem and now it's fine.
I had begun to think that racing was over after 30 yrs but I am now training hard and have run 2 road races and finished a sprint tri all in decent times.
I now have regular treatment and this has been really good for sorting problems before they become acute.
Sam is very attentive and gets in very deep but her sense of humour makes it bearable."

Rebecca Schwarz - Voice Coach

"I can not recommend Sam highly enough. She puts you totally at ease and has not just dealt with my nad back but also inspired me to get into sports (which are admittedly, very limited). I recommend Sam regularly in person and am more than happy to do this on line."

Andy Pye - Runner

"One word!! Awesome! Very Professional and knowledgeable"

Paul Eddinton - Dentist

"I can highly recommend Sam. She has helped me in a matter of a couple of months with a long term shoulder problem that no-one else has resolved"

Julie Cook - Recreational Golfer

"After recently taking up golf, I found I had what I thought was a trapped nerve in my shoulder. I visited Sam and it turned outthe main problem was actually in the muscle of my arm. I had only one visit and I am completely pain free and still playing golf"

Julie Cook - Recreational Golfer

"After recently taking up golf, I found I had what I thought was a trapped nerve in my shoulder. I visited Sam and it turned outthe main problem was actually in the muscle of my arm. I had only one visit and I am completely pain free and still playing golf"

Stella Cartland - Jogger

"After regular visits to Sam over the last few months she has helped me overcome the niggles and twinges I have been having at the base of my back since a back injury I had last winter. I can't thank her enough for giving me a massive boost of confidence again to get out and do the running I enjoy without worrying about setbacks."

John Manley - Triathlete

"Hi Sam, I just wanted to let you know you made my Christmas! I ran every day for for fourteen days straight, something I've not been able to do for years and years!
I'm really, REALLY grateful. You really are a miracle worker!"

Steve Skinner - Recreational gym user

"Sam was recommended to me by an instructor at my gym as I was suffering from a recurring thigh strain. Not only was that issue quickly resolved but so were some other problems that I had put down to old age, these have also not been eliminated. I have been given a new lease of life and am now able to perform at a higher level than I have for some years. Although Sam is a top athlete she is very personable and easy to deal with, analysing the issues and then dealing with them. Highly recommended."

Dave Bownes - Operations Manager

"I have visited a number of deep tissue masseuses over the years and Sam is certainly one of the best. Very sympathetic approach without creating unnecessary pain during treatment. Sorted my neck, shoulder and back out and I'll certainly be returning for maintenance."

Gina Addis - Triathlete

"Thanks to Sam, my knee problem has seen significant improvement in just a couple of months. I am now running up to 10 miles pain free and can get on with my training for the half ironman. Besides the massage Sam also recommends stretches and exercises specific to your problem"

Robert Kristoffer Harrison - Time Trialist

"I had always been sceptical of what massages can offer, after winning a free Massage form the rider of the month I can say that SMRMassage are fantastic, my legs felt much better after, I had done a hard week of training and my legs where feeling it but with the help of Sam's massage I was able to put a 2nd best time in on a 10 mile TT which was unexpected. I do plan to use Sam at SBR in the 2015 Season and would rerecord give SBR a try"

Hannah Smith - Cyclist

"I had a number of little niggles that have troubled me as a cyclist, and Sam has been fantastic at identifying, treating and remedying these issues. Put simply, following a trip to Sam it's like I have a new pair of legs! Very friendly and very helpful, can't recommend her enough!"

Kim Edmunds - Marathon runner

"I was diagnosed with shin splints and Sam worked thoroughly to release tightness in the localised area but also on tightness which naturally generates when having to resort to alternative exercise putting strain on the other muscles. Not only did I find that she has a wide breadth of knowledge on the workings of our wonderful muscle groups, tendons, fibres etc but she was able to explain in terms I could understand why these things
occur and how to avoid repeat episodes. Notwithstanding her first-hand knowledge of various sport disciplines which means that Sam not only provides the diagnosis and treats the injury but can also present you with a realistic rehab plan and prehab for avoiding future injuries. I have been most impressed with her professional approach and the sensible and realistic goals she sets whilst instilling confidence in your ability to resume normal activity and I will not hesitate to recommend her service to others"

Rachel Jordan - Middle Distance Runner

“I went to see Sam after a long period with unresolved Achilles tendon soreness. One session of massage on my calves and I was able to go from gingerly jogging to proper running in the park with a few reps thrown in!”

Louise Downing - Dog trainer

“Sam Boswell really knows her stuff. She is very patient and listens carefully to the issues you are having and explains how various muscle groups can affect certain areas. She is extremely professional and obviously enjoys he job. I cannot recommend her highly enough"

Emma Santy - Dancer and Dance coach

“Thank you Sam for my massage. Great to be treated by someone who is so knowledgeable about their job. Looking forward to the next one"

Mike Hazlewood - Time Trialist and Road Cyclist-

"I have come to realize the importance of regular massage with Sam over the last few months and she always manages to fit me in between my training and racing commitments as required. I've found she has a great understanding towards my needs to keep me free from injury and is very quick to diagnose and treat any soreness and niggles I might have in problematic areas before they become a major issue. Her approach is very professional and knowledge and background within sport as a runner and triathlete certainly helps with the understanding to keep injury free with regular treatment. Sam is also very helpful in giving advice on the importance of stretching before and after training and racing as well as refuelling with a healthy diet."

Merissa James - Marathon runner -

"The service provided by Sam was excellent and I want others to know what a professional service I received. I consulted Sam complaining of a painful piriformis. An appointment was made at her treatment room where she examined and analysed my problem, her treatments were extremely helpful and accurate. The course of treatments were very reasonable in price, these have now been completed and I thank her for relieving me from considerable discomfort. I would have no hesitation in recommending her service to others"

Terry Woolgar - recreational cyclist and runner

" Who better to use for sports massage, than an Athlete themselves. Having been doing more cycling and trying to get back to running, Sam was the perfect choice. Flexible for appointments, great on price and an excellent sports massage. Can't recommend enough"

Chris Parsons - Time Trialist

" Had a massage on my ageing, tired, cycling legs and Sam immediately identified the tight and tired spots and went to work. Sam was friendly, professional and I would recommend her without hesitation."

Stuart Jones - Swimmer and triathlete

" If you are serious about sport and keen to stay injury free, then I would highly recommend SBRMassage. Sam brings all her cycling, running, swimming and triathlon experience to the massage table. Sam combines this knowledge, together with her massage skills and provides a first class treatment. Having suffered with many aches and pains, Sam knew exactly where to target and how best to get the right result. The treatment was professional and received in very comfortable surroundings. I will definitely be booking again."

Farrah Rehman - Mother of three and full time IT professional

" Sam is an absolute professional in how she manages her customers"

Philip Whiteman - Cyclist

" Following a taught IT band and taught back muscles, the massages are working a treat! Thanks Sam"

Claire Jackson - Triathlete

" I've recently started going to see Sam for sports massage whilst training for my first Half Ironman and will continue to do so now the event has been completed. As well as loosening up a pair of very tight quads and calves in a number of sessions, Sam has passed on a fair bit of training advice taken from her racing experience. She is also very accommodating in terms of fitting you in at times that suit you, out of the usual working hours. Definitely one to recommend!"

Martin Pryor - End to End Cyclist

" Sam helped me last year prepare for my John O Groats to Lands End cycle challenge. With all the training there were inevitable niggles and particularly worrying knee problems but Sams work, advice and reassurances helped me both physically and mentally. I have also recently had a couple of sessions with Sam due to a shoulder injury. Sam offers a great alternative to the dreaded advice of "rest"."

Richard Vernon - leisure cyclist

" Thanks Sam for sorting out not only myself but my wife Sue as well, we were both in need of some treatment due to various reasons and problems. Have had several visits and both feel like new people!! Sam is very professional and well trained. Will be having future visits and well recommended."
